How to learn to enjoy jogging
Question:
How could I learn to like jogging? Every spring I start jogging, but after a few times jogging my enthusiasm stops. Is there anything I could do to make it more fun.
Answer:
You are definitely not alone with your problems, many of us have great intentions before we do anything and when it is time to act we notice that exercising isn’t as easy as you first thought of and then you usually stop. This goes for all exercising, there usually has to be something else than the feeling of exercising pain to get you going. It is the good feeling that you will get after exercises, you just need to get it first.
One thing you can try is to make yourself to exercise more than just few times, but you have to make decision yourself as nobody is going to kick you to do anything. Make a deal with yourself, for a month, promise to go out and exercise! For the first week, start out easy, two 30 minute good paced walks. Remember to stretch for 10 minutes after the walk.
On the second week do two about 50-60 minutes walks, with good pace again but do not run! Again stretch after the workout. On the third week do three 60 minutes fast paced walks. You can walk a few times some stairs to get a bit better workout.
On the fourth week you can start jogging a bit, still do three workouts, first jogging 30 minutes , then fast paced walking for 60 minutes and the last as jogging 30 minutes. Remember to stretch and keep at least one day in between the exercises.
After this, you can start jogging three times a week. You don’t need to run, so the pace hasn’t to be that great at the beginning, gradually lift it and gradually do longer trips. Remember that your running shoes should be in good condition and suitable for running to make the exercising more enjoyable. One thing that can help you to keep going to jogging is to invite your friend along to your exercising challenge!
