Is Atkins diet a scam or is there some truth to it?
Question:
What is my oppinion about Atkins diet? Is a low carbohydrate diet helpful for losing weight? What about the constant eating of fatty foods, is it unhealthy? I’m really confused about this, everywhere you go to ask, you get a different answer.
Answer:
Atkins diet and other low carb diets have got a fair share of critisism. Because of the high fat and low fiber nature of the diet they have also been thought to be even harmful. Still, many have lost weight with so called low carb diets.
One thing is for sure, to find the absolute truth about different diets and especially Atkins diet seems to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It seems that Atkins and other diets like it are really more effective on weight loss at the beginning of the diet, the weight drop is much more rapid than when compared to a regular low calorie diet. As the time goes on the differences get more even and at the end you’ll probably get the same results, if you are able to follow your diet.
Whether these low carb diets are healthy or not, you need to decide it yourself, consult a doctor and see what he or she has to say about it. My personal oppinion is that for a person who is otherwise healthy and cholesterol and other fat values aren’t on a risen level you can try the diet. Atkins isn’t still a easy walk in the park, you might feel yourself tired, weakness and even headaches at the beginning of your diet, this is a result of the low intake of carbohydrates ( sugars ). I personally have never tried Atkins diet, I know few persons who have tried it, the other loved the eating of meat and the other couldn’t be on Atkins diet longer than couple of weeks. So consult a doctor and make your decision, giving the absolute go for it, or don’t go answer is virtually impossible.
