Running / Jogging

Everything here regarding running/jogging is written fat burning in mind, so these advices wont get you to next years marathon.

When your priority is to tone your body, lose weight or just to burn fat, there is as few as simple exercising activities around that is as effective as is running. Basically what you need is good shoes, outdoor wear and you are set to go. Only thing left what you need is the fitness to be able to run more than first minute, this probably is the one thing that stops the running hobby, it does require to have some fitness to be able to run. As you get over that initial period, then you can run and do truly effective calorie burning. For a person of 155lbs running at pace of 5 mph ( 12 minute mile ) will burn in a hours session 563kcal, as you get into better shape you are able to raise your pace 6 mph ( 10 minute mile ) already burns 704kcal. Then there is the possibility of running stairs which burns 1000kcal in one hour, or running up hills, or doing interval running, there are loads of possibilities.

First thing to do is to get to that level where you are able to run for 20 minutes, from there on it usually starts to get easier.  This is usually the hardest part of running, to get to that level where you can say you can really run for some distances and most quit before they reach it. There are also drawbacks in running, if you are heavy person or otherwise have problems with your knees it is most likely that these problems will show up in running causing pain in your knees. This is a nice dilemma you want to lose weight, but you aren’t able because your knees start to hurt when you jog. There of course is a partial solution for everything, just don’t run on hard surfaces like asphalt, run on other softer surfaces. For some the softer surfaces have made the difference and knee problems don’t come up. Only problem there is that softer surfaces like sand or grass, it is harder to run on them fitnesswise than on solid surface. Of course the running shoes are the most important part of your running equipments and truly the wrong place to save money. Nothing is more important than a good pair of good running shoes! But, if you have really bad knee problems, you should forget running and think about other exercising methods, like swimming, aqua jogging, walking, cycling etc.

Running is something that is very easy to do with a friend, you can socialize, just remember to keep jogging and not start walking. If you both have the same aims to lose some excess fat, that should also give you more motivation to kick each other to that jog. Just remember, Rome wasn’t build in a day and running will start to show its results after you have been running for a while. There is one piece of electronics equipment you might also consider, that is a wrist heart rate monitor, it will give you the knowledge of how is your heart rate when you are running and how much calories you have burned. It is a really nice and motivating way to keep running interesting.
