What here is talked about is the cross country skiing that is exercised on the prepared tracks. There are two basic styles of skiing, traditional ( classic ) and skate style. In the traditional skiing style you ski on the parallel trails prepared on the ski track, the force to move forward is created by kicking the skis a bit backwards and helped with your upper body and arms by pushing the ski poles on the ground and backwards. In the skate style you skate with your skis, like you where skating with ice skates or roller blades, and again push the ski poles on the ground and backwards to get more speed. Usually the skate style is easier for beginners, but if you wan’t to get more shape to your butt both styles will do, but the classic might be a bit more effective.
