About Quadriceps
Quadriceps or Quads are a large group of muscles on the front of your thighs. The name Quadriceps comes from the fact that there are four different muscles on the quads, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis and vastus intermedialis. Quadriceps start from the hip joint and run down on the front of you thigh and end at the knee joint. The main function for the quadriceps is to flex the hip and extend the knee. Quadriceps are important muscle for moving and for variety of other sports, like kickboxing and soccer.
About exercising Quadriceps
There are number of different exercises for Quads. The main thing is to focus that the movement is controlled and the power for the movement comes from the Quadriceps. It is relatively easy to use other leg muscles too much and to lessen the effect of the exercise on quadriceps.
